To operate an LGBTQ+ Equality Center for the benefit of the LGBTQ+ community and its allies.Activities shall be carried out to the extent permitted by Federal Regulations attributable to a 501(c)(3) organization and other applicable regulations. To promote, through advocacy and education, a better understanding of the LGBTQ+ community and the necessity or the equal treatment thereof, including bringing an end to discrimination and oppression against all persons based upon sexual orientation or gender identity and gender expression.We are providing safe, open, and cultural events for Atlanta’s LGBTQ+ community.To promote educational, health, cultural, social justice and services directed at furthering the well-being, equal treatment, and development of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Plus (“LGBTQ+”) Community and its supportive allies.To educate, celebrate, promote self-empowerment and ensure that the social and cultural needs of LGBTQ+ individuals and families are met throughout the Atlanta Metropolitan area. To affirm, solidify, and empower our community to work together toward a culture of diversity and acceptance. Each year, the group grew with others from the community and neighboring cities. Atlanta Black Pride was born in 1996 when a small group of African American lesbian and gay friends held a picnic over Labor Day weekend to celebrate their experience in Atlanta’s LGBT community.
